Launched Feb. 28,1891 Owner: Hudson's Bay Company Data: 100 feet long, 24.5 feet beam Status: "The steamer Princess Louise, ....arrived Wednesday from Victoria with 150 horses and mules for the Teslin trail....will be taken to Glenora on the Caledonia." 6/4/1898 SRJ 1:5 "River steamer Caledonia went up the river Saturday with 30,000 feet of lumber and 40 tons of freight." 6/15/1898 8:2 Fort Wrangel News "The steamboat Caledonia, belonging to the Hudson Bay company, has gone to the Skeena river." 7/20/1898 5: Fort Wrangel News Advertisement, Caledonia 2/11/1899 SRJ 1:1,2 "...built for the Skeena River trade. She was 100 feet long with 24.5 feet of beam. In May 1898 she was taken up to Wrangell and made six trips up the Stikine to Glenora under Captain John H. Bouser, then went back to the Skeena." In "Wrangell and the Gold of the Cassiar, C.L. Andrews, pp56. "Sir:....the Hudson's Bay Co.'s manager at Victoria, B.C. that that company proposed to run their steamer "Caledonia" two to three trips up the Stikine river this coming summer......"Caledonia" has been employedon the Skeena river, receiving her cargo at Port Simpson and supplying the trading posts of the Hudson Bay Co. up that river......to have the "Caledonia" take their goods up both the Skeena and Stikine rivers this season.....the vessel will carry about (60) sixty tons up the Stikine-of Canadian merchandise....."
